Silent mode

I didn't know how to turn off the ringer but I found that in sounds I could turn silent mode on, there's probably a quick way but I haven't found it.

But the problem is now it's turning silent mode on by itself.

When I see missed calls without ringing I find silent mode 'on'.

A post here helped me keep wifi turned off, what about silent mode?
