Help Silent+Vibrate (during day), but Silent w/o Vibrate (at night)?

Is it possible to achieve the following setup without the use of any third-party application?

1. Silent Mode (with vibration) during the day -- e.g., in the office.
2. Silent Mode (without vibration) during the night -- e.g., while sleeping.

In settings>sound, you can set vibrate to:

1. Always
2. Never
3. Only in Silent Mode
4. Only when not in Silent Mode

"Always" and "never" obviously will not do the trick. "Only in Silent Mode" will mean that it will vibrate while I'm sleeping at night. But, "Only when not in Silent Mode" means that it won't vibrate while I'm at work.

Am I missing something?

Now I'm confused lol I have to re-read your post! :p

You could set the "only in silent mode" vibration setting and when at work use the volume toggle, press and hold it down till it vibrates. OK you're set for work.

Now for your night setting. Leave your vibration setting in "only in silent mode" but set your ringtone to silent. Since you don't mention using any kind of ringtone I think setting it to silent only mutes the tone and doesn't actually put you in "silent mode". I think this will work  :)

Just leave it at "Only in Silent Mode". When you need it to vibrate, toggle the volume down with the rocker to vibrate. If you need it silent when you sleep, toggle the volume down to vibrate and then one more time to put in silent.

yeah, you can leave it as 'always' - always means it will vibrate when you have the ringer on and when in silent mode. trick is at night, you put it in 'mute' mode, which as others have said it done by just pushing down on the vol button all the way down past the 'silent' mode until you see a speaker with a slash through it.

mc ringlock in the market is a nice widget that allows toggling between sounds-vibrate only-silent with a single click, also supports locking the ringer volume so you don't change it accidentally

Thanks all. My issues was obviously stemming from a misunderstanding of "silent" versus "vibrate." I get it now.

By the way, if you haven't already tried it, I would highly recommend Llama. It, like some other programs, lets you make sound and setting profiles, and then set "events" that will trigger those profiles based on time, location, and about 15 other conditions. I found it because it was often listed as the "top" apps on the "top app" threads in this forum.
