Help "Sim Authorization Error" RAZR outage

Around 2:00, I received a red x in my notification bar, saying that there was a "Sim Authorization Error," telling me to call VZW CS, or go to the store and replace my 4G LTE Sim...

All day, my 3G/1X icon has been GONE (I just see gray bars), but ALL DATA works completely fine! (Texting, browsing, email)

I went into Verizon, and they told me there is a RAZR outage with the 4G SIM card -- meaning many RAZR owners are having the same issue I am in terms of the SIM Authorization error.

Anyone else here going through this?
 
Absolutely. VZW tech support is sending me a new card but I suspect it's their system, not my card. I' m in Westerm MA. Where are you located?
 
Having the exact same issue with my RAZR, athough I recently got my 3g icon back. That simcard error is scaring me a little.
 
I'm in Philly and I had/have the same problem. I took it to the Verizon Wireless store earlier this evening and they were clueless to what was going on. They were going to replace my sim card but they did so for two other people with the same problem and it still didn't work. Their recommendation was to call customer service and see what they can do and come back the next day if the problem persist. What's funny they never mentioned that the network was down or whatever. I'm reading other posts in other forums that had the same issue in the past and they all point to the network.
 
Hot off the presses. I just informed VZW tech support about the postings here, that the problem is very widespread. VZW just figured this out a few minutes ago, knows it's a severe system issue and has a trouble ticket out on it. In short, our phones and SIM cards are fine. This is a VZW issue.

Glad I decided to post! And more happy that you guys are ALL experiencing this!

They also informed me that it isn't my 4G LTE SIM -- it's the network (somehow?) I had this issue from about 2:00 p.m. here in NJ, and they said they received an email about it at 4:00.

I'm extremely perplexed as to how these hiccups happen. A NATIONAL 4G outage, I can understand...but a MODEL SPECIFIC outage that has NOTHING TO DO with our individual SIM cards? :confused::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Either way -- they gave me a 24 hour window, so I hope it's fixed by tomorrow afternoon! Not that I use my 4G CONSTANTLY, but it does make me feel...odd.

(Also JUST recovered my 3G icon)
 
I'm probably just repeating most of what has been said, but..

Droid RAZR user, NY area. I called customer service and they said it's a known problem by Verizon Wireless. Nothing wrong with my phone or SIM card, it's an issue that will be dealt with by verizon.

Also, I had no data whatsoever for a while, but after turning data on and off a few times and then restarting my phone, I got 3G back. Not sure if that's because I restarted it or the network fixed itself, but that's all the help I can be.
 
Same problem in Indiana. I pulled out the SIM card, reinserted, cycled the power, and error went away and I could connect to 4G. Two minutes later, same issue.

VWZ support said to get a new SIM card at the store... yea right... the phone is not even a week old. It's probably a network compatability issue that will be fixed soon so I'm not too worried.

At least we can still make phone calls on it :rolleyes:

I just hate being stuck in the 3G dark ages...
 
I've got the red X on my Droid Razr in Boston, since about 3pm today. Glad to hear this is a VZW issue and not my phone. I haven't had 4G or 3G access all day, I've been using Wi-Fi while I'm home.
 
Same problem..but not only does my 4g not work.. but before being aware of this nationwide outage, i took my otterbox case and sim card out, put it back together and still no service..at least 5 times today before cutomer service would actually tell me something that made sense. anyone with an otterbox know the pain of this task lol..
end rant.
Im in VA and still have the outage.....

anyone heard anything on when it should be fixed?? 24 hours??
 
Glad to see this is a system issue and not a problem with my phone (Western New York). I had my first issue yesterday afternoon and again today both around 5pm.

I only have 3g coverage.
 
Hey guys..in NJ and have that same issue since 6pm today. Called VZW they said it was some kinda outage and would be resolved in about 24hrs.

Same problem here 3G icon bk but no 3G service. 12:40 wed morning and still no servicesince Tuesday 4 oclock.
 
Sadly this is my first smartphone..even sadder is the fact that i just got the phone today after a 9 day back order from amazon..even worse..could not activate it until i went to a verizon store and go them to do it manually..then..no 4g..i love the phone so far but i want to see how amazing it is with 4g.. oh well, still out here on Smith Mountain Lake Va.. 3g works

I called vzw at about 4pm today after receiving the sim card error ...What I was told was that there was a 4G outage and that they were going to open up a trouble shooting ticket, and for me to sit tight for a day or so? Lmaoooo....As soon as I heard that I walked into vzw, got a new sim card and Waa Laa,,, No error and back to 4G!

I have to say, vzw's CS reps, and data specialists are pretty clueless these days! I should sit tight for a day or 2 while u clowns sit around and figure out the fix is to get a new sim card?

Either way....A new sim card should solve the problem if your getting an error!
 
Unless there is a really weird coincidence, this isnt just a USA issue & not limited to 4g as we dont have that yet.

Im in the UK on the tmobile network and get the same issue, but on my notification bar it states " invalid sim card", when I go to open the phone to investigate, the process.phone has crashed and needs a force close, even then i sometimes have to force close it a couple of times before everything is okay again.

It has only happened in the house when Im in a poor signal area, if that makes any difference

I was given the choice of getting next day delivery or battling my way into to town to go to a corporate store for a new SIM. I chose FedEx. Either way, we'll see if that resolves things.


Has anyone confirmed 4G is actually out? Like run speedtest or something? I'm still getting data fine, but I'm not in a great 4G area to test it.

Its good that it worked by switching out the sim card but others are trying to switch them and ending up with no 3G as well. This is a wide spread issue as my 2 Xooms, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Rezound all have the same sim card issue.
 
So I went to verizon store yesterday with the sim error. After showing my phone to everyone the tech replaced my SIM card. But now I cannot activate my phone. I was told that it would take a while to activate. Three hours later online support said "give more time" and try again. Then 3 hours after that I was told it was a network issue and I should not have switched the Sim. I mentioned that it was a "trained" verizon tech that switched my card not me. He then proceeded to tell me that I would have to wait for the issue to be fixed to activate my phone. Time will tell...
