Sim Card Help.

I have searched but I need a little help.
Had a Verizon HTC Incredable loved the phone to death but it was time for a new phone. I was under the impression I would lose my unlimited data and talk-text if I did the upgrade so instead I just get a new phone on E-Bay almost $500


So here is my problem the Incredible is old enough It does not have a SIM card. But the Galaxy says it needs a SIM card.
So in short what do I need to do to get up and running?? Can I ROOT the phone or how do I go about getting a SIM card and will it cost me or will I lose my plan now??

When I got my S3, my previous phone (S2) had a conventional SIM card so my carrier gave me a micro SD card (at the shop) and ported the number over about 2 hours later. Its as simple as that and its in your carriers interest to do it to keep you loyal.
