Sim card problem

I have some trouble with my phone shutting down for no apparent reason and have had to do a soft reboot to get it going again it does seem to be a problem with other users of this model .
Yesterday it done it again and after several attempts to kick start it into life i gave up because i need a phone i removed the sim and put it into my old phone using the micro sim adapter and it worked fine .

Today i thought i would have another try on the moto and lo and behold i got it going so put the sim back in but i have no network(virgin uk) i have tried the usual search for mobile networks etc but still no single wi-fi works and internet so the sim is back in my old phone working fine.

Any ideas what i can try next.???

Have found the problem the internal sim carriage is damaged and cant read the sim not easy to get that repaired methinks.

Leads to another question how can i move phone contacts to my old phone.

I found repairer on the net and i have moved the contacts to my old phone so all good.
