Sim card question

jhonb

Android Enthusiast
I am an AT&T customer. Up until recently I had an iPhone 4 (Purchased June of 2010) but now I purchased an unlocked Android phone (Galaxy Nexus). I took the sim card out of my iPhone and put it into the GNex. Now I need a straight answer for the following question:

Should I get a new sim card from AT&T to take advantage of the 4G network, or will the old sim card work just fine?

Thanks

The old sim should work. I'm using a sim card I got in '09 (Windows mobile phone) in my SGS2 and it works fine.

SIM cards get updated fairly frequently these days. Older cards usually seem to work ok but actually may not enable full network capability. To be sure you're getting everything you're paying for, get a new SIM.

Just from my dealings with AT&T, I figured they would have an issue with me getting my own phone. I already am on their top data users hate list. I will give it a try and see what they say. I had to get an adapter for the micro card from my iPhone when I switched over, so that might be better as well.
