Help SIM card reader broken (motherboard change?)

Hello, guys

Recently my Galaxy S3 GT-I9300 stopped reading the SIM card. I sent it to be fixed and what was my surprise when they informed t me that the cost to be fixed was 180 Euros!? I have investigated in the web and I have found a simple tutorial that could resolve it simply substituting the SIM and MMC card reader part . I bought and substituted it, but for my unluck, the problem persisted.
:(

With this scenario I would like to know what might be the root of this problem. Could it be a motherboard problem? Would you suggest another way to resolve it?

I have found some motherboards selling on eBay. Do you think one of these would resolve my problem? How to substitute it?

Thanks!

Antonio

I'd suspect a bad motherboard. Would I buy one from eBay? No. It could have a bad IMEI, it could be non-working, it could be sold by someone who disappears after making sales. I'd bite the bullet and let Samsung repair and guarantee it.

in europe (EU) your warranty is TWO years. The s3 hasnt been around that long so why are they charging you??
Fight them!
Good luck
