Apps Sim card storage question

This is my first time posting here. Glad to be here

I have a question about sim card storage. Does the sim card design forces it only to save data such as text? I'm trying to make an app and put it in the sim card. But from what i'm seeing I can't do that. Is there a reason? perhaps the type of storage the sim has related only to text or contacts?

I would not try saving anything to the SIM.. Not contacts, not anything. Very limited capability, SIM cards are really an antiquated technology that should be used only for mobile network authentication. And these days that's about all they do. Many phones no longer offer the option to save contacts to the SIM.

There's serious talk in the mobile industry of getting rid of SIM cards. IMHO it will happen.
