hi all, i have a fold 5g that i have already broke 2 since new year, i want to be able to take calls and txt messages at work on a different phone and use my fold when im away from the workshop. i dont want to keep swapping my sim from phone to phone as thats a lot of hassle and dont want to be doing that 3 times a day. TIA

So basically you want two SIMs with the same number and carrier service. There are kits available to clone SIMs(usually bought online from China), however it's very likely illegal, all depending on the country you're in with laws or local ordinances, e.g. Mobile Telephones (Re-programming) Act 2002 in the UK, but iANAL of course. Also your carrier may object to a cloned SIM as well.

Maybe check with your carrier, about using two phones on the same number and service?

BTW i won't be getting a folding display phone anytime soon, still sounds like they're way too fragile for my use.

If you do that and the carrier detects two instances of the same IMSI they will block the SIM - rightly because (a) almost all uses of this are criminal and (b) it's something that will cause problems for their systems (if both are active how does the system decide which to route calls or SMS to?). And don't expect them to be understanding when you call them to tell them that both SIMs were you - remember also that the SIM is always the carrier's property, not yours. It's basically a bad idea.

Why not just forward calls to a different phone? Some message apps let you view and even send messages from a computer, so using one of them would solve the message problem.

ok i think i will do that. i just need my calls txt messages and WhatsApp sent to a different phone 12 hours a day, i should have known better to have such a fragile phone in my trade

WhatsApp is easy: leave the fold connected to the internet (it has to be for this to work) and then use the WhatsApp desktop app from a computer - I frequently handle WhatsApp that way even though the phone is in my pocket.

I think Google's Messages app can do something similar for SMS, but I don't use that app - I'm sure someone else will be able to say. For that matter I don't know whether Samsung's message app has such capabilities, because I don't own a Samsung phone.

well if you can download samsung dex to your computer, you can make and receive text messages on your computer. not sure on phone calls. i believe you can receive them but you will have to answer them via the phone. i found this: https://www.samsung.com/uk/support/...and-or-answer-calls-whilst-using-samsung-dex/ so it looks like you can even make calls on dex, but i think you need to talk to the person via the phone. maybe get a bluetooth headset might work.
