Sim unlock code for sprint

Does anyone know the sim unlock code for sprint. I purchased a phone for. Someone and I now don't have sprint and would like to unlock my phone. Sprint says I need to contact the original owner
 
There is no one code, it's device specific. I tried a number of online sites to unlock my S4 but they couldn't. I had to go to my provider who was more expensive. It took a while as they had to get the code off Samsung. That said, I didn't want to root my phone, just have the sim unlocked. Perhaps rooting may help.
