Simple Messaging App for Android & IPhone

Hi,

I'm looking for an app that is available for Android and IPhone.
I want to be able to send messages to another account, maybe share photos, links and such.
Shouldn't be too complicated too much options. Just add person, then send and share.
It should be instant, I mean really instant, not like get the message 1 hour later.

I heard Whatsapp is what I am looking for.
But recent test have shown that sends stuff unencrypted.

So is there any app that is reliable and secure?

Hmm, sending messages over the internet is always going to depend on the internet stability of both devices. If the connection is not good, then messages have a tendency to get delayed. Even with Whatsapp.

What do you mean that stuff sent are unencrypted? you want to put in a password every time your recipient receives the message?

Sure it always depends on the connection but currently we (my friend and I) use Facebook and this is incredibly bad! Unencrypted I mean not over https and as plaintext.

Hi there! try using PingMe, another messaging app which offers real-time chat, group chat and geo-location. It’s easy enough to get setup and works on BlackBerry, Android and iPhone. Features include a real-time typing notification, delivery notifications, a friend finder and push notifications to tell you when a message it waiting, even when the app is closed. Everything is completely free and you connect using your contacts list, Facebook or the PingMe network. Imagine an advanced real-time text-message chat with your mates without the text charge and you’re pretty much there.

The simplest app I can think of is Skype share everything including video and sound calls with ease. Pictures and links are very simple to share!

Skype is a no-go: 1. it sucks (too slow, loggin in takes ages and it loses connection on bad conditions or slow network) 2. Microsoft I found ebuddyXMS. It does pretty much what WhatsApp does. Contacts via phonebook, facebook, send messages, images, video, location, groupChat (I do not use it). You are registering with your phone-number just like WhatsApp. And it is free. And you can use a secure connection. Which is said to be slower but I did not experience any delay. I guess PingMe is much the same.

I agree with the Skype thing, it's not really working good this past few days for me unlike before.

I seem to be having absolutely no problems with Skype I talk to family on the other side of the world everyday and they share links and pictures of my baby cousins regularly.

The previous 2 posts what phones are you guys using? For iphones I saw my best friend log in and talk to his dad in eastern Europe yesterday with ease over 3g on AT&T. As far as links and pictures on iphone I assume it is similar to android - I got the Galaxy S2 from T-Mobile and both over their network and wifi it works perfectly.
