Simple SMS blocker

zuben el genub

I temporarily need a simple sms blocker that I can add to the built-in messaging on the Nexus 4.

I prefer Chomp, but Sprint is messing with and upgrading towers, so for some reason only the built-in messenger on the Nexus 4 works with her phone (A Galaxy 3, I think). The default messaging does not block SMS.

I got some idiot - probably wrong number or a marketer that refused to quit last night. I can deal with blocking phone callers myself, so I don't need that, just an app that will block with a long press like Chomp does. It was a regular number and not a short code.

I don't need logs or fancy services as I don't get pestered that much.

BlackList (the one with the yellow and black shield icon) will do that. Just put that phone number in and it'll be as if it never calls you, voice, text or both.

Thanks, but I want one with a long press. I have my own way of dealing with phone spam, so I don't want an app interfering with it.

If the sms I got was some kind of commercial spam, can that number be spoofed? Spammers and robocallers do spoof phone numbers, so blacklists don't always catch them. If it was a wrong number, an instantaneous block might let them know they messaged to the wrong person.

I want to block the sms immediately by a long press so if number is spoofed, I don't have to deal with it.

Don't you have spam settings on your phone?
As long as the spam settings are turned on you should be able to long press on the message and then send it to spam and then all messages from that number will go there.

Nope, no spam settings. I don't answer the phone if I don't know the number, search for the number and stick it in a spam account with a silent ring. I go through every quarter and delete those who have not reappeared in the call log. Spammers like Rachel from card services spoof numbers anyway. You'll get the same call from 5 different numbers in one day.

I don't use VM. I wouldn't want calls sent there. Never check it since TMO won't give me a answer that says "don't bother" I want the S-I-T tones but that doesn't work on cell. I use the call log.

Grabbed a freebie that just did SMS. If Sprint ever gets its act together, I'll freeze the regular messenger app again and just use Chomp.
