Since We're Not Getting 2.1

bennyboy5764, The Cliq led me to the Behold 2. After my 3rd Cliq with problems, I jumped the Cliq ship! I dig my Behold2 with BH_MAN's R11 rom, I won't be jumping anytime soon. I'd love to see an HTC HD2 hacked with Android on it!!! That huge display is SWWWWEEEEETTT! And it feels good in your hand! Maybe after the HTC EVO comes out things will pick up in that hack??
 
I already have the MT3G 1.2 and it's getting 2.1 w/espresso sense UI, plus I'm already running the new mytouch slide rom now .... I'll wait till next year before I upgrade again.

I'm waiting for the Dell Mini 5 (Streak) or some other mini tablet that is simular. I just wish Archos would make the Archos 5 into a phone. Oh and it will be the first phone I would use Bluetooth on.

:rolleyes: Lol what? now I know for a fact that wasn't said and neither could it have been implied. However, I do have respect for you since you were the creator of various Custom Roms that this community has used of which also means that you do matter to the community but I am sure you already had known that...

Anyways besides all that what makes you think that we won't see 2.1 officially if you can't create a 2.1 Rom?
 
Because I was Told that... from Samsung. No I can't Name who I talked to without them getting in trouble..

Well seeing as you have a connection with samsung can't you use them to get the source that you need to make 2.1 happen? or did you already try that?

I've been trying to get source forever now.. But since Samsung Uses RFS for all there Security, including the TV's Firmware.. No body is brave enough to help..

Don't get me wrong, I loved the BH2, but stuck with 1.6 for this summer while all the Phone's are getting there 2.* updates... That don't sit well with me..

I am still not sure why it sucks that much. I understand we are being left behind but the only thing we are losing out on is Launcher2/Livewallpapers/bug fixes and speedups. It's not like we are missing out on anything that huge. We still get Navigation. We still have access to 95% of the apps on the market. We have plenty of time before we need to get rid of these 1.6 based phones. Summer will be over before 2.2 really gets put on any phones. 2.2 has the juicy stuff so hopefully by then we all will be able to switch. Until then we aren't missing out on much.

I came from a 2.1 Phone ( Rom ) to the Behold 2 after I had my stuff stolen, we are imo missing out on alot.. That's just how I feel!!!
 
The only "hope" with 2.2 is that since it's being designed by Google as the "Defragmenter" OS, it may be a required update... Not sure how Google would REQUIRE Samsung to make an update for it (Other than "You don't update the existing phones, we stop supporting Samsung with Android" which doesn't seem likely or possible), or REQUIRING carriers to, well, require the update (see above).


At this point, a Galaxy 2.1 port would be most likely....


... Wait, is the Galaxy (non S) even getting 2.1?





Unless, of course, 2.2 is some magical Marketplace-installed OS that uses existing 1.x/2.x drivers.... Yeah, that'll be the day.


Thankfully, I'm still quite happy with the phone, and don't plan on going to another one until at least 2012. I hate replacing working hardware unless it gets to be too slow to run the software I want :-P (And my B2 works fine)

By then we should be on the 2nd generation of 3D accelerated phones, all with multi-touch.
