You mean like emergency vehicle sirens or the old fire whistle that sounded to alert the firefighters before reliable radio communication?
Mine has the city wide sirens for tornadoes and natural disasters...
They go off every month at 1pm Saturdays... (for testing)

We used to have that, but it was removed years ago, and we don't get a lot of tornadoes up here.
Mine did--when I lived in Tornado Alley. Scared the shit out of my poor mom--my Southern California mom--who was visiting when one went off.
But, no, safely back home in SoCal, Arcadia doesn't have sirens...that I'm aware of. I don't think we have earthquake sirens...hmmm...
I've never heard any except Police, EMS and FD.

However our workplace does, if the plant room looses power a very loud air raid style siren goes off (I believe its 50 years old!) - it's amazing to hear. Yet I never want to hear it.
We have also just installed 8 brand new sirens for if there is an ammonia leak detected. These are guaranteed to upset the neighbor's as they are very loud and located at every corner of the site!

Like the old Civil Defense alarms we had here [in the US] back in the Cold War days? We had fallout shelters, too.
Most Kansas communities still have sirens that set atop telephone type poles. They serve the communities for tornado warnings. Smaller towns I've worked in trigger their siren network daily at noon. Where I live they are tested once a month and set dormant the rest of the time. It is not a sound you want to be awakened by.

We have a siren not too far away from here, just up the road, there is another clump set of it, where my buddy did reside at one point.

I've seen those civil defense/emergency horns but they were never used in Boston since I've been alive and I was here for the riots in the 60s.

we don't but once i was visiting a friend in Bishop ,Ca and one went off and scared the crap out of me, i didn't know they had them until that moment .
Our volunteer fire department had them, went off every night and if we weren't home for dinner with 5 minutes there was hell to pay!
Ours used to ring at noon and five, for lunch and dinner.
