Siyah vs Neak for ICS

Hey guys. Was getting a bit frustrated with poor Wi-Fi and lack of deep d sleep with Siyah so giving Neak a blast. First impressions seem ok. Has anyone used this for a while? How do others find it compared to Siyah?

It's refreshing to know that some things do not change... Syd and his curse on kernels being one of them! :ahhhhh:

For those of you who are new to this forum... Syd has a long history of bucking the trend when it comes to SGSII kernels. What works for 99.9% of us... will not, for Syd.

So bad was, "The Curse of Syd", that we would let him load a kernel first and if it did not work for him... we would all load it.

This reached a new level when even gokhanmoral, developer of the Siyah kernel, actually produced a special version... just for Syd so that the rest of us could enjoy a trouble free version!

In answer to your question Syd... I found NEAK 2.0.6 to be very good and until about 2 months ago, it was, in many respects, neck and neck for me with Siyah. However, for whatever reasons, the developer, simone, seems to have abandoned any further development on it. Although gokhanmoral has taken his foot off the gas on the S2 kernel development, he is still making tweaks and improvements to it.

Bottom line, as usual for you Syd... its whatever works best for you! ;)

There really wasn't anything to choose between these two gb kernels, but unfortunately for you syd, siyah is utterly streets ahead of neak in the ics world. With extweaks siyah is jam packed with excellent features and configurable tweaks.

I stick to defaults on battery profile. The only thing i change is to enable gentle-fair-sleepers. I then make use of it's excellent bln functionality. There is now also a volume boost for headphones.

If you're not getting good deep sleep, try taking your battery out for 5 mins and try again.
Other than that you need to check what apps are giving you this jip.

Thanks for that. Don't think my problem with Wi-Fi was actually a problem! Am getting good Wi-Fi connection but the signal bars are showing nil. Might just post this on xda. Your taking battery out worked a treat, now nice deep sleep. Back to Siyah guys. I'll try again to give it the KOD.
