For those looking to play around with a different OS on their PCs.

SkyOS Public Beta | SkyOS

The developer, Szeleney has made the last beta release of SkyOS 5.0 - build 6947 - available for free. I somehow doubt we'll see development pick up again, but it's nice to have the latest release out in the open for everyone to play with.

moved this to the computer forum.

hmmmmm interesting. once i get my old laptop fixed, i was going to add linux to it, but i may need to look into this.

I'm too old and lazy to try something completely different at this point. *sigh*

Besides, I was reading through their FAQ and saw this:

Is SkyOS open-source?

No. SkyOS is a closed-source operating system.

I do not try any other Linux anymore, now days.

I'll still give a new [to me] distro a whirl from time to time--on one of my non-critical computers. I simply don't have the desire at this point to risk being down, albeit temporarily, on my 'real' computers.

Wow...I really have gotten old. :boring:

Another Closed source operating system, What a waste of time.

If you want closed source windows is the only one worth anything, and only because all modern PC games are compiled for it.

They where posted more of a curiosity. Something to try in a VM if you're feeling bored and have some time to waste. You're NOT going to run a modern anything on BeOS. :D
