Over the last 5 days I've had 3 different people contacting me via Skype. About possibly helping them with property or money investments, in the 'country' where I live. They all claim to be high ranking officers either in the US or Canadian military, and have corresponding pictures of men in uniform in their Skype profiles.
It's always the same speil, enquiring about family, hobbies, religious beliefs, and plans for the future. It is very apparent that English is not their first language, by their obvious grammar and spelling mistakes.
I'm not 'ex-directory' in Skype, because want to be able to be contacted by students and other friends and colleagues.
Has anyone else had this happening recently on Skype or other IM? And if you have, it's very obviously a scam.
I've been using Skype for 6 years now with the same user-ID, and this has never happened before. Investment scams are nothing new of course, but I've never heard of this US/Canadian military officer variant, and 3 in 5 days?
