Skype profile picture

It seems impossible to change the blank profile pic with one you want. Has anyone solved this please and could advise.
I have just installed the latest Skype for android.

Tap the picture in the upper-right corner. Tap the picture on the left side. Select the picture you want.

Within Profile, i tried all these variants, no luck. Can do nothing with the installed blank profile.
Any other ideas please?

When you first launch Skype and sign in you should see, in the upper right corner, a small circle with a green dot at about 5 o'clock. To the right of it will be the three dot menu icon. Tap the circle and the upper right corner should now show the default picture with your name and Skype ID superimposed. Tap the picture and you should see a black rectangle with Change profile picture in blue at the top and, below a blue line, Choose from Gallery and Take photo and Clear profile picture as your choices. If you tap Choose from Gallery your gallery of photos should show up where you can choose the photo you wish to use. If you tap Take a photo the camera interface should show up. Hope this helps.

I was going into My Profile and trying to change the blank pic shown on the left.
