skype video calls speaker volume low

When I switch on the loudspeaker on an audio call it works fine.
If I change it to a video call, the video is fine, but the speaker volume drops very low (as if it's a normal voice call through the phone earpiece).
Switch off the video and the volume returns to the handsfree speaker mode.

Skype 8.80.0.137
Galaxy J7 Pro
Android 9, One UI 1.1

Thanks for the suggestions.
I wonder if maybe I didn't explain it clearly enough?

This is while I'm on the same ongoing call in Skype:
Starting as just an audio call in handsfree mode with the loudspeaker on, the volume is fine.
If I switch the camera on to change it to a video call, that's when the audio level drops dramatically to 'non handsfree' mode.
If I then switch the camera off, the audio will return to the louder 'handsfree' mode.

Doesn't this suggest it's something to do with Skype, rather than my audio levels?
Or have I missed something obvious?

It sounds to me, if it is the vume of the loudspeaker itself changing and it is not actually switching to the earpiece speaker, that it may be caused by a bandwidth issue.

Video is sure to use much more bandwidth than audio alone.
So the audio will decrease in order to make room for the video content.

This may be a setting in the app, it could be network constraints, or it may be device limited somehow.

If it is a new problem, then the device can most likely be ruled out.

If the app or device was updated right before the problem existed, or your network was changed somehow right before the issue began, then Bingo.

Also, depending on the time of day may matter as well.
The volume of videos that I stream changes throughout the day and night as the total amount of useage for my provider changes.

And this is true with the fastest provider around here, let alone any of the others.
