Help Skype video Issue

I just purchased a CoolPad Quattro 4g for Metro PCS. When I try to video chat using Skype the screen goes into a fit. I can't select any options the person that I'm trying to video chat with has to hang up so I can use my phone. Has anyone had this problem with their phone? Is there any resolution to this issue?
 
I have similar issues on my Samsung Galaxy W. Usually turning it sideways allows me to get at the buttons to hang up tho.
