Help Skype video on S3

I cannot get video to work on Skype on my S3. Video is enabled in Skype Settings but still no joy. Has anyone else got this problem or know how to fix it? I can't find any thread about this. This is a deal breaker for me. If Skype doesn't work I will reluctantly return the S3 during my 14-day trial period.

Thanks

I have Verizon and am having the same problem. The video feature doesn't work. I'm wondering what network you are on chrisluger2012?

Even if you can get Skype working using the variant on VZW, it's really not worth it. I started using Tango and haven't looked back. Performance has been buttery smooth (compared with my time with Skype).

I tried Skype on my At&T GS3 and I can see the video and hear the audio from my recipient, and he can hear my AUDIO, but everytime I try to "start MY video" it waits a few seconds then can't do it.

I see the Skype app on the Play store is from April 2012. Maybe it needs an update or there is some driver issue with the GS3 or its camera or something?

In any case I then tried Tango and it seems to work just fine.

Disappointing and surprising that Skype wouldn't make sure that it works for the MOST POPULAR ANDROID PHONE right now!

I installed Tango last night before I went to bed. When I woke up, my battery drained to 20% and Tango seems to be the culprit, as it kept my s3 "awake" all night. Is there any way to fix this?

I haven't had this issue. I've closed out of Tango and it doesn't even run all the time. I believe I read that it is Push technology so doesn't need to be on all the time. That said, for me video chatting is a "special occasion" thing (i.e. call the parents and say "let's do a video chat - I'll Tango you in a minute") so I haven't yet had the occasion to test whether that push notification works.

I think just make sure you close out of it when you're not using it and you should be OK. Mine doesn't show up as a running app and there is no listing for it under the battery drain screen.
