Slacker Radio Sound Quality

Did a search for this and only found a thread regarding car usage...

I just downloaded Slacker 1.0.375 (I think) and have found a huge sound quality issue...

I'm currently using Shure SE310 earbuds on multiple devices and have noticed no issues with their quality... I also use Pandora (on my droid) with no quality issues... So I know it is neither the earbuds or the 3.5mm headphone jack on my droid...

What I notice with Slacker is that the bass, probably 50%-75% of the time, comes through with a lot of distortion / crackling... It is apparent at all volume levels that the music is actually audible and varies across all music genres...

Anyone have any idea on how to fix? If it is a wide spread problem? Any patches in the works?

Thanks in advance for any / all information...

i have the same problem. pandora works fine but it seems like slacker has a ton more bass for no reason which my car can not handle

Same here, I have found the Slacker app overall to be quite buggy. I never had that problem with the slacker app on my iPhone, it seems that only the android version of the app has some problems.

If they could fix the bugs I would upgrade Slacker, but until then I will deal with hearing commercials.

The Slacker app (or maybe just widget?) has also been linked by many to spontaneous complete SD card memory wipes. Be cautious!

Good morning,
This is something that we are working on. The problem is that the Android OS has a bug with the Codec we have been using on all of our mobile platforms (iPhone, BlackBerry, and now Android). We have confirmation from Google that this is a Bug, and they are looking into it, but we do not have a time frame for them to resolve it.

We are also looking into using a different Codec but, at this time we are unsure if this is something we can complete in a short amount of time either (it takes time to re-encode all of the millions of songs we have in our catalog).

We are working to address this though, and as we get updates we'll post more information our user forums at forums.slacker.com.

Best regards,

LOL, well im glad this isn't just me... i was about to take these bose in ear headphones back because i thought the driver was blown... but then i listen to mp3's and life is good... sounds like slacker, or a google bug is at issue. thanks for the confirmation at any rate!

btw - for those who don't like shoving in hear headphones in their ear canal, these bose hybrid in ear headphones rock! i tried a pair of klipsch s4's, but i couldn't deal with shoving them in my ear canal, nor could i deal with hearing every joint in my body moving as i walked with them in my ears...

Some songs have great bass on Slacker, but others, like many have said, sound awful and create buzz and crackling in the speakers/headphones. Other than that, I haven't had any other problems with the app (beside the fact that if I go to my home screen while it is playing the playback stops).

What would you guys and gals recommend as a good or great music app? i have downloaded flycast but for some reason, i get a "dropped server" message when im not connected to wifi. i had slacker on my bberry but hated updating playlist often. thanks in advance!
