I made this account just to post this idea, because I would pay good money to play this game.
So here's the idea. The game would have some kind of investigation or mission system that would have you go and explore areas of your choosing for "evidence". Using GPS, it would be able to roughly track your movement. The game turns your camera phone into a "Camcorder" and the screen would display exactly what the camera was seeing. Using some kind of algorithm (forgive my coding ignorance), the game would project virtual items into the real world on desks, benches or other appropriate surfaces. The player could then take a picture of the object to complete the object.
However, the challenge would come from a Slender Man that is placed somewhere in the play area ( X meters away from the objective using the GPS). As you get closer to him, the camera would begin to display "interference" in the form of visual tearing, static and artifacts. Should the player make visual contact, they will have to run or get away from the Slender Man by some means before the screen turns to complete white noise.
The objectives collected by the player could be anything from journal entries to creepy photos to medical documents that are Slender-flavored.
The mechanics would leave it open ended enough to add alot of features, I think. for example, there could be an exercise mode that would be something like Zombies, Run! where, as you jog, interference will play through the earbuds, indicating that you need to pull out your phone. There could also be a mode that records your experience so you could show it to your friends. This may be difficult to do, given memory and storage restraints, but I think it could be a cool feature.
Again, this is just an idea that I had while walking through the woods at night. I have no programming skills so the burden of this project would have to be taken by someone else who likes the idea. However I could contribute, some Photoshop/graphic design and writing talents, if needed. I imagine this may take some serious programming skill, as it would require harnessing the phone camera and such.
I can provide samples of my writing to anyone interested in the project. As far as my graphic design talent, I'm a GD minor and I can try to scrounge up some samples of my work so far.
For those who hate Slender Man anything: that's okay, you don't have to tell me my idea sucks.
To anyone interested, thanks!
