Slow and unresponsive Ace

Hi All
I am new to the forum and this is my first post. I bought an Ace last December and am pretty disappointed with the overall performance
My phone is very sluggish and I find it hangs constantly even while doing normal tasks such as accessing the address book and call history. Sometime the lag is as long as 5-8 secs. It goes in a complete limbo when the battery falls below 10% - at this point it just won

Lags are mainly because of the lack of available ram, you might be having apps that keep running in background and use up your ram, then when you want to do something else there is not much ram available.
If ram is the problem then use taskmanager and close background apps, you can also manually see what apps are running in settings>manage applications>running applications. Close the ones you don't need and those that don't affect the normal functions of the phone.


As for rooting, it definately helps a lot in speeding up the phone. You can put in ram management scripts to handle ram better, little tweaks to increase scrolling speed and home screen launcher's smoothness, you can even overclock the cpu and increase speed. Then there is also the option to use custom roms which are built only for speed and smoothness. I am using a custom rom based on the cyanogenmod rom, its superfast and smooth, i don't even remember the lags you mentioned, i left those when i rooted and stopped using stock samsung rom last november.
