Slow Tablet fixes other then Factory Reset?

Are there other ways to fix a slow running tablet other then a Factory Reset? I read somewhere about a method where you hold a cretin button combo and turn on the Tablet or do it while turning off the tablet that does not erase everything or only erases the system memory and programs but does not erase the internal storage where all your photos, music and other non program related files are stored. I also remember something about having to do this action 3 times before it actually completely cured the slow running tablet problem.

I am not going to lie, my tablet is a little over a year old and even after a factory reset it still runs like shit. I have asked how to fix it but still received 0 reply's.

The only true fix I found was to unlock it and load a custom ROM. I am using CROMBi-KK and the performance is outstanding with it - my biggest regret is waiting so long to do it. You shouldn't have to do this but it is what it is.

Does this Custom ROM Have the Google Play App Store and how will the tablet appear in the App Store will it still show as the Asus Infinity TF700T? Will it Root my Tablet there for causing possible problems with audio or Movies I may have purchased from the App Store or any Kindle Books I purchased for use on the Kindle App for Android? Does it come with the App Back Up Program and will it allow me to restore all my Apps and their Data useing the Back Up file made with the official Asus Version of Jelly Bean?
What if I don't like the ROM can I go back to the Asus Jelly Bean?

I've got the 701 now and most happy but I still have my 700 which I keep to run root apps like Bitshark. Anyway I very highly recommend rooting the 700 and using Cromi-x ROM, it breaths new life into it. While not as fast as the 701 with the tweaks in the ROM it's at least usable.

But does it have Google Play and will it play Movies I have purchased from Google or other stores? I had a X10 Android 10 inch tablet with a custom rooted ROM of ICS and when I tried to play a song I got from Google it said I could not play it because my tablet was rooted.

My TF700T is rooted and running CROMBi-KK ROM and I can play my Google movies with Google Play and read the books & magazines I have purchased from the Google store.

I just installed the latest CROMBi-KK after having a later 2013 version of the regular Cromi build and all I can say Holy <Expletive>! runs so much better. I'm waiting to see what happens in a month if it still runs as well, but totally worth it to extend the life of this tablet.

Which one did you get which boot loader? I have CROMBiX with TWRP 2.6.1.0 and it seems to preform much better but I have not reinstalled all my Apps yet and it has one annoying bug, it keeps resetting my wall paper any time I reboot back to that board walk image I will set it to the Live Wall Paper Asus Day Scene (The one with the tree that changes from morning to daytime to evening to night as the day goes by) and when I reboot it will always put it back to the board walk image.

I tried the CROMBi-KK ROM but it ran too slow but maybe I have the older one. Which CROMBi-KK do you have installed? What is the build date? Did it just come out or has it been around for a while?

I liked how you could select which system apps to install with the CROMBiX as you were installing it but wish it would have let me choose to not install the people APP I have no need for any social networking apps.

Speaking for myself, I am running the latest CROMBi-KK build - May 17 with TWRP 2.6.3.2 - and it works great. Very responsive. I had been using CROMi-X but am finding CROMBi-KK to be faster.

I think I know why CROMBi-KK ran so slow on my Tablet, I have TWRP 2.6.1 installed and not 2.6.3 so I will try sometime soon to install TWRP 2.6.3 and then install CROMBi-KK.

My 700 also runs slow and I find myself having to kill all processes just to get it to move. I have been hesitant to root the machine hoping that Asus would deliver a fix. Since they have not had an update in many months, am I to assume that they have stopped supporting this device? If that is the case, I would never get a 701 considering how the 700 works. For the $400 plus keyboard that I paid for this device, I feel ENTITLED to atleast a two years support and a final fix pack that addresses the issue with performance when more than 2 apps are running.

Can these machines still be rooted even with the last patch from Asus? I heard they pulled the plug on rooting. If that is the case, that would really suck to leave us with a horrible performing machine and no way to bail our selves out.

Thx

Question about using an aftermarket ROM. Are there security concern with unlocking the OS? I thought they said not to use banking or google wallet if on an unlocked device. Have those issues been resolved?

I went and unloced my TF700t Rooted it and installed CROMi-X. I got tired of it running slow and the Google Play App crashing even after doing a factory reset, got tired of having to do factory reset every time it started acting up again. The warranty was almost up on it anyway so it was not a big loss voiding the warranty.
It runs faster and the Play App no longer crashes. At times it does run slow but not anywhere near as bad as when it had the official Asus Jelleybean.

Thank you for the response. Do we know if ASUS has bailed on support for the 700 now that the 701 is out? I got this tablet within months of its release. Since my purchase, I think I only received maybe 3 OS updates. Contrast that to my HTC one where I have received 5 or 6 to date. I have had the HTC one since its release (about 15 months now) and they are still supporting the OS with patches. It too was slow until the 5.x release. All is good on the HTC One front now and I would consider another device since they are not leaving me hanging with my current device. I cannot say the same for Asus. I thought ASUS was supposed to be a tier 1 tablet company with support. So dissappointed to date.

I've installed Nova launcher on my T700 and it is running fine. No lag and play store doesn't crash.

Hi,
I, too, have a slow running T700 but am very afraid of doing something to the ROM. I'm not a programmer nor a hacker. Can someone like me still get the CROMBi-KK and TWRP up and running on the tablet? If I can, HOW do I do it? Thanks!

A Cold Boot (Cold Reset): Shut down the Pad. Power on by holding power button and volume down buttons. When the icons appear on the middle of the screen, use the volume down button to move to the Android icon. Use the volume up button to select it. I've read that you should do this three times, although I don't know why.
