Help Slow Text Input When Texting

Am finding text input is often slow / delayed in appearing on screen as I am typing a text message on my Ace. Shouldn't be a phone memory issue as have 51MB internal storage available. Any ideas what might be wrong or how I can fix this problem as it is disconcerting. Thanks

Are you using Swype or the conventional Samsung keyboard? The answer will depend on that

actually this sometimes happens to me too. i was using samsung keypad. now i am using gingerbread keyboard.

Infact the gingerbread keyboard takes smaller ram mem than samsung one.

I haven't tried many others. Right now I am using keyboard for android 2.3+ by Steven Lin. Find it in the market and give it a try.

Though your text input might be slowed due to a lot of apps running in the background. Go to task manager and see the ram usage when text input is slowed.

Hi, I installed the Steve Lin app and changed the keyboard to Gingerbread Keyboard in Settings > Language and Keyboard, but the phone still seems to be using the Samsung keyboard. Does my phone have to be rooted for the Gingerbread keyboard to work (my Ace isn't rooted)? If not, any suggestions on what I need to do to make it work? Thanks.

when you have enter text (in any text box) give the text box a long tap, pop will come asking you to choose input method , there you can choose samsung keyboard, swype or any other keyboard you installed.
