Help Sluggish After Update / Not getting game notifications?

Rayfb316

Hello. After the Ice Cream Sandwich update my Thunderbolt feels sluggish. It seems to take a few seconds to flip pages, open apps, run apps, turn on/off, pretty much everything like it's struggling to run the software? Is anyone else experiencing this or know any fixes?

Also my games like Words With Friends, Draw Something, etc don't show up in the notification bar when others play their turns. I uninstalled the games and reinstalled them, so hopefully that works.

Just wanted to see if anyone else was having these same problems or anything else?

Mine seems to restart faster, but i do get some of the slowness you're seeing (opening up texting, for example, is much slower than before). The only fixing I've seen is doing a factory reset, but i'm not ready to do that yet

I did a basic restart and I think it helped as it seems to be running more normally. Deleting and reinstalling some of the applications also seemed to help to get them to show up in the notification bar.

After several days of re-installing programs, rebooting, battery pulls, etc., I decided to do a hard factory reset. The speed is alot better now although I'm sure a new phone would be snappier. Amazon app store is still a slug - having trouble reinstalling programs. Hated having to do it but it seems to have helped. Also noticed that some of the programs looked slightly different after reinstall maybe due to it knowing that ICS was on board now?

Mine was a slug also, then my brother pointed me to a forum where people were discussing it and someone found that removing Handcent fixed it. Mine is MUCH faster. I may miss the pop-up notification but I won't miss the sluggish feeling.

I'm in the same boat as you.

Mine lagged so bad after the update, even after a factory reset, I was considering going back. Then I removed Handcent and rebooted. After a few hours of testing, my phone is much more responsive.
