so it is rooted? did you have a custom recovery installed? why can't you boot into recovery? what happens when you try? how did the phone get to this point?

the more details we have the better we can help.

No. It is not rooted at all. At first it kept rebooting itself, then it would also get hot. Idk what happened to it. I let it charge up and it was then it would start to reboot. Then I wiped the cache and finally I wipe the device. It say frp lock

ok since the phone is not rooted, you are actually looking for firmware to flash. it is way different then a rom. and the only roms you can flash are custom roms and you need to be rooted for that.

yep like @MoodyBlues has said tripping FRP is a different situation. it is super hard to bypass it. but there are ways around it. but this is a security feature that google has put into place to help prevent thieves from stealing a phone, factory reset the device and either sign in with their own account or just create a new one. and for the very same reason google has FRP, we are not allowed to discuss how to by pass this security feature as it might help others who have evil intent with the given info.

really the best way to bypass FRP is to remember the email and password you used for the phone. it should never be this hard, but many people some how forget these two things.

i would recommend that you get in touch with google and ask for assistance.

and here some more info on FRP:

If you've already factory reset it I don't think recovery will help you: the main thing you can do with a stock recovery is reset the phone, it doesn't do a lot more. Indeed how did you wipe the cache if you couldn't get into recovery?

So what are you actually trying to do? Not "get into recovery", but what do you hope that being in recovery mode will let you do?

Second question: do you know your password to get past the FPR lock? Because I would deal with that before doing anything else. If you are lucky the reset will have fixed the problem and this is all you need to do now. If not you can find the software to reflash it at Sammobile.com (possibly via ATT as well - some US carriers provide this for some of their phones).

Just to warn you though, rebooting and getting hot might not be a software problem, those could indicate a hardware fault instead. So there is no guarantee that any of these software interventions will fix it - we can only hope.

ok so it bootloops still? where did it mention frp lock? stock recovery?

let's start from the beginning. what happened? how did your phone get this way? was it like this when you got it from your sister? was it working after it was given to you?

It mentions the fro lock on the download mode, and when I do try to flash it, it says.
(odin protocol version error) in red.
How can I fix that

It started by it would heat up for no reason and then it would boot loop. It was turning on and shutting off by itself.
