Help smart actions - turn on wifi by location

Verizon has a separate app which turns on wifi at the location you configure using gps. I have it set to turn on when I get home. Works great. It's called Verizon Wife Auto-ON.

If Verizon could make my Wife turned on everyday when I got home that would be great.

I used Verizon Wi-Fi Auto On. It worked (more or less), but it took awhile to turn Wi-Fi off. In the end, it used more battery than just leaving the Wi-Fi on all the time, so I uninstalled...

I don't see how this statement could possibly be correct. Do you have any data to back it up? A background service can't possibly use as much battery as a radio actively searching for a signal.

The data I have collected doesn't sow what you say at all. Wifi on/off uses a CPU cycle too infrequently to measure battery impact. Google services is the only part of this with measurable battery impact. Leaving wifi on AND connected to a good, solid signal (no searching) uses ~5 times more battery than Google services. I haven't left wifi on and searching for a signal constantly, but it follows a searching radio burns up juice.

I do agree it takes a few minutes to shut off the radio. So, if you are just wandering around the neighborhood, or within a few miles of a known location, it is pretty useless. But for those of us who commute any appreciable distance to work, it its more than adequate.
