Smart actions

VIP caller. I always keep my phone on vibrate. With smart actions, my phone rings max volume when my wife, daughter, or son call. Very handy.
 
I have one that decreases the ringer volume at night. I would like to turn off media sound at the same time, but I haven't found that option. If I'm missing it somewhere, would love to hear how to do it. I don't care to be waken up by text messages in the middle of the night. :)

I also have one that sets the ringer volume to vibrate only when I'm located in my office and have a calendar even on my work calendar.

I'll watch this thread for more ideas. :)
 
I only have one Smart Action set. And it is created for my car.

Triggers;
Charging(any source)
Headphones(plugged in)

Actions;
Ringer(40%)
Brightness(100%)
GPS(On)
Wi-Fi(Off)
Screen Timeout(10 Minutes)
Launch Application(PAndora)
 
Smart Actions

1. Silent mode when calendar shows an appointment
2. "Sleep" - Goes to silent mode from 10 pm to 7 am, except for calls and texts from my VIP list
3. Battery Extender - shuts down selected functions to save battery life if battery level falls to 20%
4. "Home" - Automatically connects to WiFi, voice announce texts and calls.

Always looking for more ideas.

Still looking for a way to "Sleep" where I can turn off all notifications (emails, texts, tweets etc), but leave the phone ringer on to all calls, not just VIP. Has anyone found this yet????

Disable data...Its called cellular data in smart actions settings...that will stop everything except calls and texts.

I'm thinking that will also require an additional action of turning wifi off as well, or the data would come thru from there. I'm going to give that a try. Hadn't thought of this option. Thanks!

Just go to your sound settings>volume and uncheck Use incoming call volume for notifications. That way you can turn the volume off for notifications and keep the ringer at whichever level you choose. Or download Volume Ace.
 
Was thinking about making this thread a sticky, as there are always many questions regarding smart actions.... What do you guys think?

I'm sure a sticky thread about smart actions would be helpful to many.....but there's so many options in smart actions, the thread would be REALLY long. What about a sub-category for it?
 
Well the reason for a sticky is to have all the questions about an oft asked problem in one easy to find spot. Usually stickies around here turn into epic threads. We don't mind since it cleans up the normal forum area from the clutter of multiple posts about the same topic. I've just noticed a ton of smart actions questions and thought it was a good idea.

Understood....and agree....but my point is that there are so many different TYPES of smart actions, that there could be a sub for smart actions, and then different threads for all the different types.

lol, gotcha. I misunderstood.
 
I agree that smart actions is gonna take up a lot of cyberspace because of the diversity...maybe a child board (or its own sub-forum) would serve better than a sticky. That would allow different topics within the same subject, and might make searches for answers easier to find.

Just a thought...
 
Can someone explain to me how to set up the following:

I want the phone to, upon arrival at work, turn all notifications and rings to vibrate except for my VIP list. Then, upon leaving work or at a specific time, I want it to go back to my 'normal' phone modes. I've figured part of this out using the location trigger, but I can't seem to make it turn my text notifications to vibrate.
 
I use two smart action setups.
First....
Triggers
-Charging (any source)
-Headphones (plugged in)
Actions
-Ringer Volume (40%)
-Brightness (100%)
-GPS (on)
-Wi-Fi (off)
-Launch Application (slacker radio)
-Launch Application (volume ace)(so I can adjust all the levels as to not blow my ears and speakers out when getting a text or call while listening to music)
-Screen Timeout (10 minutes)

Second....
Triggers
Headphones (unplugged)
Actions
Launch Application (volume ace)(to put the levels back to where I want them when I am finished listening to music
