Help Smart Settings WiFi issue

JBensimon

Newbie
I'd like to have WiFi turn on automatically when I'm home, but that particular Smart Setting isn't working: it keeps claiming that "No home located in My Places" but when I look at Settings -- Location -- My place "Locate your home for Smart Settings", it says " Home automatically located after 5 days" (I've had the G4 for a couple of months). Even if I then use the gear icon and force it to accept my current location as home, nothing changes, and the Smart Settings WiFi setting still claims I'm "homeless".

Anybody got this to work? (Note that other Smart Settings are working, like launching an app when Bluetooth is connected, etc.)

I'm not certain about carrier versions of the phone, but I'd be surprised if any of them removed Smart Settings. It's not technically an app, it's a set of configuration settings, found under Settings | General | Smart Settings (under the SMART FUNCTIONS category). Check there.

Thank you, I'll try that

I had the same problem with the smart settings. It turns out, you have to have "Locate" (GPS) turned on all the time. I was turning it off to save power.

I *do* have GPS on permanently, but Smart Settings still does not recognize that I have a home location defined. Does that specific Smart Setting work for you, WiFi turning on by itself when you get home?

Thanks.

I submitted the issue to LG support online, and got an email that included "I’m going to forward your concern and feedback to our Developers team and make a report of this issue so they can look into this if this is a software-related issue. I’ll be providing all relevant information about the issue to them to possibly have an update to correct the device. I couldn’t provide you for now the ETA for a patch/update to be pushed through to the phone but we will keep you posted once we got a word from them." I'm not holding my breath, but I do have hope that it may be fixed someday. It would probably help if those affected by the issue (and I'm guessing it's everybody who's tried to use this particular feature) would also report it to LG.

Jacques.
