Smartphones can't connect to Wireless Repeater

I have a DAP-1160 Wireless AP in my room, which is set to Repeater mode. I only wanted it to boost the signal of the router in the living room.

My laptop connects to the repeaters signal perfectly fine (excellent signal strength), but my smartphones (iNew V3 and HTC Wildfire S) only recognize the original router's network which is in the living room.

From time to time (when in my room), the smartphone loses the original router's signal and shows it is connected to the repeater with full signal strenght, but then there is no internet access. At that time, I have to go to the living room and turn the WiFi on my smartphone on and off so it can connect to the original router's signal (so I can have any signal at all). And as I already said, the laptop never has any problems connecting to the repeater's network.

The SSID of the repeater is the same as of the original router. It has WPA2 wireless security.

Please, are there any tips for me to figure this out? Thank you!
