Root smartshare

I had smartshare on my LG connect and was able to view my movies from my wd live TV hub. Now i upgraded to the LG esteem and when i connect to my wd hub i get a message on my phone that the media player is not responding. Please help.
 
This seems more like a general isssue than root. Fruit for thought for next time. :)
Are you rooted and using a custom rom and/or custom kernel? If so, try using the smartshare apk from a different rom. (Just to verify that the app isnt corrupted) the replacement can be done with a root-type file browser and an extracted rom file that you download from these forums or abc's website. Just copy the apk (long press until menu pops up on root explorer) and navigate to system/apps/ in the phone's memory and paste it. Let it overwrite if it asks, and then reboot your phone. Then try reconnecting.
 
Thanks for the reply, this phone is factory stock, its still a virgin and never has been rooted. My mistake was that AI went from an LG connect to an esteem becasue of the bigger screen not knowing that I was downgrading:(.
So I guess I should root my phone and find and re-install the app?
 
Hello again, I rooted my phone and have the smartshare.apk on my sdcard when I tried installing the app ROM toolbox lite it starts to install and then I get the following error aplication not installed. Am I doing something wrong??

smartshare is included with #2 and it has the version from connect :D maybe you can test it for mee

Just tested it out.. I can play vids TO the wdtv live but can't stream from it.. prob something in my set up but don't remember how to get into it lol will be something for another day here
