In text messaging I could not receive smiley in my Gionee E3. I only receive ASCII characters.

What jvook says but only on KitKat
Gionee E3, a two year old phone. second-tier Chinese manufacturer. That's not going to have anything more recent than 4.2 or 4.3 Jellybean, extremely unlikely any updates. Full native Android support for colour emoji, was with 4.4 Kitkat.

Good point. If not updated to v4.4 KitKat then you will not get full Emoji support so follow this guide if you are not (Android Version can be found in Settings>About or similar location)
Couple of points about that update guide.
"So Here i am with the link to the kitkat ROM for Indian Users!!" ...could be different versions of the E3.
It's not an official Gionee update guide, but XDA are usually pretty good.

This one is official from Gionee India. Don't think it was offered as an OTA update, and it does require a PC.

According to this article http://www.phonesreview.co.uk/2014/11/10/gionee-elife-e3-android-4-4-kitkat-update-arrives/ the choice is to do it yourself or go to a service centre but not OTA
