SMS application (without resending old sms)

Toma.

Lurker
I know that there are several threads about this problem, but I want to have the answer here in my own first thread.:D

I have tryed Handcent SMS which was resending the old messages after the reboot. I hated this and then tryed chompSMS, which is resending the old messages also when the phone is turned on

So which SMS application is without buggs and issues?

I hate the standard message application, but it seems that I'm obligated to use it. :(

Now when you say resending, do you mean it's sending out a duplicate text from your phone out to the person you sent it to? Or are you talking about the Handcent issue where you'd receive duplicate texts from other people (i.e. re-receiving)

If it's the latter, for handcent try going into settings>notifications and uncheck the self-check option. That's seemed to have done the trick for some.

It sounds like the SMS app isn't seeing those messages as confirmed as sent, so try starting from scratch by backing up your texts and deleting all the threads in handcent.

Test it out for a while, restart your phone a few times and see if you're still sending duplicates.

i had this problem a few times with handcent. i changed to GO SMS and it doesnt do it anymore. GO is pretty much exactly the same as chomp and handcent but has nicer themes in my opinion, although there are only a few themes.

I'm using Handcent v 3.5.2 and have "Prevent resend" ticked under Send message settings. This seems to prevent the problem described.

"Prevent resend
Use Handcents special feature to prevent a resend issue that may happen on some phones after rebooting"

Hope this helps. :D
