SMS apps?

this is not exactly a HELP or QUESTION type of thread, its rather an opinion based.

yesterday i was going thru the Play store and found quite a many apps for SMS and texting! i mean, its a very basic feature in any phone, why would people download and install an APP for THAT?

so do these apps provide anything special that inbuilt messaging wont? share you experience or opinion.

Hi ayaznoor, SMS apps available on the market generally add extra features or enhanced capabilities over the stock SMS app.
I use gosms which adds many features, the most compelling of which (for me) is the private box - a secure, password protected in/out box which protects messages, to/from particular contracts I have selected, from prying eyes. Additional features that may interest you are auto-respond, blacklist, unique settings for each contact, scheduling of messages, themes etc.
There is a lot more to SMS apps than you'd expect and they certainly enhance my texting needs. My advice is give one a try - it's easy to uninstall if you decide it's not for you.
