SMS+Backup

The app was not backing up into my gmail so I realized it tried and failed and hadn't tried again so I hit Backup. I went into my texts and was shocked that a TON of them were gone. When it does an auto backup, it doesn't delete the texts normally so I don't know what happened but there are texts in there that are crucial for an upcoming court case. So I hit restore but for some reason it's restoring 35,000 texts and many I don't need restored back into my phone. It's at 10,000 and I started 3 hours ago. Anything I can do to speed up this process or stop it from doing every text I ever had? Also, any ideas on why it deleted them all.

Thank you

A hard reboot would stop the process (and hopefully not restart it again). But I don't recommend you do that, because all kinds of things could go wrong. I recommend you sit the restoration process out, and then delete for instance 80% of those messages, and that backup data set you just restored from, and make a fresh backup data set.

You keep court documents on a phone? I hope you encrypt them, well, as S.O.P.

Its a crazy ex that texts, not really court documents.
So wait this out and then go through and delete all texts but those and then backup? Any idea why those were gone after the backup I did. That never happened before. I have these texts go to email but that didn't work and it's not restoring from there or am I going to have to delete them from phone and SMS folder in gmail?

The folder to back up in Gmail should be "SMS" If you go into this folder, from there you can printout the text that you need. Make sure that you have all the settings correct and you have the correct e-mail and password acct. to back up your items. Not sure why text where deleted, might be the SMS app that did it by default to make more space for SMS.

Ok I did a restore, messages from a year were back in phone but not ones from yesterday?? I hit backup because they weren't in my gmail SMS folder and they are gone? They have to be somewhere, don't they? I went thru that long restore process and nothing :( I know no app is flawless but this one seemed to really work and now its just gone. I'm at a loss :(
