Root SMS Broken

So after flashing roms I currently can't receive text messages, currently running Angry Bean 4.9.13. I can send text and people say that they have received it but I don't get their replies. Any ideas to fix this, already tried flashing the MMS fix, radio update, full wipes, still not working.

Problem fixed, basically if you are experiencing the same problem you will need to wipe, install a Sense based rom to fix the SMS, then wipe again if you are going back to a JB ROM to have SMS work on the Rom again.
 
Have you tried sending yourself one? It might be on Virgins end, with all of the Network Vision upgrades numerous people have been experiencing connection problems the last month or so.

I had the same problem. The only thing I haven't tried is RUU to fix it, and even then it may not work. The only thing that let's me receive texts is any ICS Sense 3.6 ROM. Currently, I am running MNR. But if anyone can figure out why this is happening and share, I'd be thankful. Can't wait to get back to AOSP goodness.

Ya I have tried doing that still not getting them, but would that explain why people receive mine and I can't receive theirs.
 
Over the past week or so I have been having the same issue. I'm on pacman ROM. Tried different ROMs same issue I can send text but not receive them this is getting very frustrating
 
Same here any ICS based ROM will get sms back. For some reason JB ROMs sms is not working, but after going back to an ICS ROM and fixing the sms, I can install a JB ROM and the SMS is fixed.
 
Hopefully someone can help me. Whenever I send a text I get another message shortly after saying "you are not allowed to send text messages". If someone tries to text me it tells them I have chosen not to receive texts. I called Virgin and they told me to enter codes which didn't work, and then factory reset. Doesn't this sound more like an account issue on their end? I still get their balance messages and stuff. I've tried almost everything including restoring the stock backup (not Ruu).

Any help would be amazing. I've given up on the issue and resorted to the text plus app, which sucks because then I have two numbers. I should get the services I paid for.

edit: it also says message 2120 for the error.
 
What radio are you using? Have you recently changed radios?

Your best bet may be to do a nandroid backup in recovery, wipe everything except SD Card, then install the stock deodexed rooted ROM from this thread.

Once installed, boot the ROM up, and try the codes Virgin Mobile asked you to try. Also, going into the Settings and choosing Update Profile (I think it's Settings>Updates, it's towards the bottom of the "settings" menu). Update Profile has fixed a lot of issues for me in the past.

The reason the codes Virgin Mobile gave you didn't work is because they're not designed to work on anything but stock ROMs. The ROM I linked you to is based directly off of a nandroid backup from stock, so it's just what you need to give those things a shot.

Anyway, once you're done with that & you've confirmed text messaging works for you, wipe everything from recovery and restore your nandroid from Angry Bean.
 
Someone stated that the VVM fix was the reason why receiving does not work. I am beginning to think that is correct since I did not flash it this time, and now receiving works on the latest VM release of PACman ROM. Can anyone else confirm this?
 
I wiped everything and retried the 4-13 shooter VM pacman ROM and still had the problem with texting I can send but won't receive any.
 
Unsensable won't allow you to use dialer codes because it doesn't have epst, Harmonia will work for that, once you have texting working for you, then you can try going back to a JB rom.

Thing is texting does work for me on unsensable but when i try to install pacman i lose it if i go back to unsensable texting works again
 
i have the same issue, Angry Bean 4-9 build. So does my wife

I actually had this same issue happen on an older build, so i don't think it has anything to do with the vvm. Wiping everything and reinstalling doesn't help, the only fix is installing the stock ruu. afterwards i reinstall my rom and everything is good for a while

I was attributing this to a titanium backup restore error on my end, but i just flashed Angry Bean on my wife's phone a few days ago and hers suddenly started doing the same thing today. sending works, no receiving

I don't have a problem with installing the ruu and updating the profile, but what are the chances of this continuously occurring? i've had to reformat my phone 3 times because of this issue. It's been about 4 days without issues on my phone now, but it seems to be something that isn't immediate
 
okay got my wife's sms working (for now)

performed a backup of her angry bean rom
wiped everything (except sd)
installed Harmonia
upon restarting and getting signed in, she received all "lost" texts
updated profile (settings > system updates > update profile)
went in recovery, wiped everything again
restored Angry Bean backup
SMS now working again

hopefully it lasts this time, but this was a quick 20 minute fix for me. much better than installing the ruu and having to redo joeblow hacks or hboot all over again
 
Well my wife's phone did it again today. Wiped, reinstalled harmonia, received wave of texts, restored angry bean backup, and texts are working once again.

I'm not sure why going back to an ics rom suddenly fixes the issue, but it definitely does. This seems to be happening at random, and I'm amazed more people aren't experiencing it. There must be a glitch in the jellybean port that's causing this. Hopefully someone can figure it out
 
On midnight jb and midnight 10.1 I had no problem with texting but once I went to pacman I lost the ability to receive texts. Then I went to unsensable and everything works again.
