SMS Customization

That is something that I also am interested in as well Steve, I already
use the MP3s from the tracks and albums I have on my Nokia N95 8Gig
for ring tones, alerts and Text messages so I hope that the same
is true using the Hero. :)

There are a number of threads here that discuss several options and apps to assist in the custom alerts and ringtones.

For me, I just added /alerts to my root level of the sdcard and the additional alert tones are recognized by the phone.
 
Hello People! :D

Download the app "Rings Extended" free off the Android market -> Now go to change your ringtone as normal -> when prompted select "Rings Extended" and you will now be able to choose from all the MP3's you put on the Phone :)
