SMS keyboard help

Upon receiving an SMS, i tap the messaging icon and am presented with a list of the new and older messages that have come in. All good there, no problems yet. Then i click on the new message on top of the list and it opens in a new screen. Problem is, before i can even read the message, the keyboard pops up and takes up most of the viewable screen so i cant read the entire message. Id like to be able to read the msg before being shown the keyboard popup. This doable?

Hit Back. That'll kill the keyboard. Then when you're ready to type, press in the text area and the keyboard will come back up.

Thanks for the response. Guess that's what I'll have to do. Seems odd though to have the keyboard thrown at you before you even get a chance to read the full message.

Yeah it annoys me too. It's because as soon as the message appears, the reply field is instantly selected.
