SMS messages from iPhone

Having had an iPhone for 2 years and now having an iPad, i decided not to upgrade to another iPhone but to try android as i like the look of the HTC desire. I wasnt sure as i had lots of pictures and messages on my iPhone that I wanted to keep. The phone shop told me no problem, that the desire would be able to update my stuff fromiTunes and i wouldnt loose anything.

However, this wouldnt happen , so i bluetoothed the phones to find only the contacts wil sync. Does anyone know how I can copy my messages off my iPhone? Not necessarily to my new phone but even to my PC. I know the messages are on my PC somewhere but encrypted so I cant even see them. Googling hasnt given me an answer. :(
 
Thanks Alackman, I did find that and tried it but couldnt locate the file named there. Have you tried it? Do you know where it is? I even searched but with no luck.
 
That seemed to work in a different way to the link I had before. Yours worked beautifully and I could see my messages, though had to pay
