SMS/MMS apps and data?

Ok, I'm old, so bear with me!!! I recently downloaded Textra and then ChompSMS. I absolutely looove Chomp!!! I don't ever want to go back to the stock messaging app again, Chomp works so well and is so customizeable. BUT.............I'm not sure if I understand or not. When I am texting under my unlimited texting plan, I assume this is still considered just a TEXT? Or am I using DATA when I am not on wi-fi? I do not have much shared data each month so I really don't want to use it up when I can text virtually all day long for free. MMS works so well with Chomp and I wonder is that using data? Please help an old girl out!!!

SMS text generally uses the phone path, so it does not use Data.
MMS uses the data path, so it will use data.
There may be settings in Chomp to convert SMS to MMS if certain conditions are met, pay attention to those if they apply.
Good Luck!
Ron

Thank you for your reply, that makes sense. I do know that MMS when using Chomp is very smooth and works well with Iphone users as well. I won't worry about it too much, unless I am sending out tons of MMS messages!!!:D
