Help SMS / MMS issue

Hi everyone,

does anyone know why the Spica, after exceeding the character limit of 3 SMS messages, automatically transforms the SMS to a MMS?

Is there a way to deactivate this. If there is where is it.
I've been looking in the messages options, but haven't found anything yet.

Install Handcent, it's free, and has the option in the send message settings

However I was more interested in configuring the Spica itself, rather than installing an app.

I actually like the spica's sms interface
