Help SMS Not Vibrating in Silent Mode

Hello everyone:

First, this is my first post here so HI!!

Second, I searched the forum for a similar thread and couldn't really find anything so if this is a duplicate, please let me know where the issue is being discussed.

My Galaxy S3 recently updated OTA by AT&T to Ice Cream Sandwich. Since that update, I am am now not able to turn off vibrate when the sound is on for SMS messaging. I have the vibrate in-app option on and my phone does vibrate in silent mode, however, when I turn the volume up, I do not want my phone to vibrate. I hope that makes sense.

Is there anyway to make this happen? I just find it hard to believe that Android does not support this in ICS since it worked fine in Jellybean with a separate sub-menu that allowed me to control when the vibrate for SMS occurs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance!!

First off you have it backwards. The phone came with ICS. JB 4.1.1 is the newest OS for the phone that has been pushed to you. Vibrate is either on or off, no in between. That said there may be an App like Tasker that you may be able to set profiles up for the vibrate to be on or off at certain times.

Thanks GT! I am new to Droid so doesn't surprise me I had it backward. Either way, seems like a fail on the part of Droid to remove this from the OS but I guess there is nothing to be done about that. I will try and look for an app as you suggested.

I appreciate the quick reply.

Try downloading ringer toggle widget by rounded labs & see if that helps. that's what I use & Ilike it because it has a haptic feedback everytime you switch to vibrate. It is a widget since your new to Android you'll have to go to widgets & put it on your home screen.

Thank you. I will take a look. I found that the AT&T messenger app does what I want as well so I am currently using that for now but I will look at your suggestion too.
