After performing the latest system update for the nexus 4, I encountered a problem with my SMS, I could no longer send or receive text messages. What can I do? Any ideas?

I read there were problems with 5.0. You should have 5.03 available What firmware are you running?

5.0.1 is the latest for N4; 5.0.2 is available for some other Nexus devices. 5.0.3 will likely be the next push, but it's not a Real Thing™ yet.

Sorry, my mistake. It's 5.01 that is currently being rolled out OTA. You could sideload it using adb, and downloading the update from Google which is here http://android.clients.google.com/p....signed-occam-LRX22C-from-LRX21T.e93b20be.zip
What carrier are you on? Have you verified your APN settings are correct?
Do you receive any errors or adverse indications when you attempt to send an SMS?
Are your contacts' numbers stored with the country code? There are quite a few folks who had to remove the country code from their contact numbers to get texts to go through. Could be worth a shot.
