Help SMS problem

Hi guys,

Normally im quite an easy going sort of guy, ningling problems tend not to bother me too much and I will just work around them instead of going to lengths to fix it. However this problem is just too annoying to ignore!

I own a desire S, which im happy with bar 1 problem. If i open an sms thread from a friend and began to type a reply, the moment i hit the backspace key, the phone freezes for a few seconds and then exits the thread and returns to the thread list, the sms saves as a draft...i then have to go back into it and carry on. Once ive pressed the backspace key and its went through this ritual, im then free to use the key....ive no idea what changes or whats causing it, but its so annoying when your tryin to send a quick text.

I should add, this only happens when the phone is horizontal. If im txting vertically, i can delete characters without any freezing / exiting ritual.

Please help!
 
Have you tried rebooting the phone? Have you tried clearing cache and data from the messaging app? HAve you tried a third party messaging app?
 
Rebooting yes, not entirley sure how to clear the cache and no I havent tried a 3rd party messaging app...I didnt even know they existed, could you recommend any in particular please?

Clearing the cache
  1. Menu
  2. Settings
  3. Applications
  4. Manage applications
  5. Click the All tab
  6. Scroll down to messages
  7. Click "clear data"
