Help sms problems

I have an s3 on tmobile. I am having trouble with sms apps. I was using gosmspro but have gone back to the stock app untill I can get my sms working again. I have also used handcent in the past. the problem is whatever sms app I use locks up when I open it. I don't always recieve txts, nor can I always send txts. I have done a factory reset witch didn't really help. I have a thread with aot of txts in it. however, when I try to delete it, whatever app locks up. I have cleared data from settings but that doesn't help. currently gosms and handcent are unistalled.

Hello poptop. Welcome! :)

No matter the factory reset, if you've backed up and are importing back into the system too much data, sms messages in this case, your sms apps are going to struggle and just stop at times. ;)

You need to back up the messages you want to keep off-device, clear caches and reboot. You'll likely see a big difference. :)

Thanks but how would I go about that? I am pretty confident thats the problem. Right now I am running delete old messages which seems to be helping but is slow. I will start it again in a few when I go to bed and let it run all day hopefully. I really don't care about backing them up, there is no critical data. However, I haven't found an efficient way to delete them all. I am not rooted.
