I recently purchased the Motorola Moto G but don't like the SMS/phone call reminder it has, I used to have a Samsung galaxy ace which used to have a red circle reminder on the resting home screen if I missed a text message or tel call,I have looked on Play store for a similar app and tried out several but don't really like any of them. Does anyone know of an app similar to the one on the samsung galaxy ace, I would prefer an app that has a sound and a visual icon on the home screen. I would appreciate any recommendations or advise.

You need to add a widget to your home screen for each app that you want a badge (red or orange ring) for. Touching the widget opens the relevant app like regular app shortcuts.
