SMS sending Problems

Motorola XT1039 Moto G, Android 5.1 and using 'built in' 'Messaging. Most texts always go ok. Tried 2 to same number yesterday and it showed red traingle with !, but text details when opened showed "sent at...".

Recipient confirmed no block her end and no receipt. Where now please?

I've had that happen every now and again, not often but it does happen. You can try a few things but it may not actually send those messages at this point.

Toggle airplane mode on and off, waiting a few minutes in 'off'.
Clear cache for the messaging app; settings/apps/messenger/clear cache.

If you continue to run into this you may want to try a different app, Chomp and Hangouts my two 'go to' apps and Textra gets an honorable mention. I haven't used stock/default messaging in a long lot of years but have had messages not sent no matter which I'm using, but not a lot.

Welcome to the forums :)

Yeah, texting isn't perfect no matter what carrier or app you are using. It sometimes just doesn't work. And let's not talk about short-code or the fun you can have with iPhone group MMS, we just won't go there.

If I really need to make sure someone gets a message I make an old fashioned call, it's the only surefire way even in this big world of technology.

Yeah, sometimes I see that sent issue as well.

I was told it indicates there was a problem initially and the receiving phone may or may not receive it.

Try rebooting your phone if you see it more than once.

Like Clementine said, SMS texting is not perfect and it is actually outadated technology. I am looking forward to what Google Allo has to offer. I also use Hangouts and have used Textra and Google Messenger at various times.

Does anyone know how to find the triggers required for the red triangle to appear in 'Messenger'? If, for example, a 'full' inbox at the recip could trigger it that would explain, but I can find no useful info on the app..
