SMS showing receipt status?

Hi,

My wife recently moved from an iPhone to an S4. She mentioned that one thing she misses is that, in the stock texting app of the iPhone, each message she sent would have a 'received' description next to it - I'm guessing like a receipt notification but instead of appearing as a separate notification it'll just appear next to the message sent (and so would be less intrusive that way)

Does anyone know of a texting app that gives that functionality?

SMS doesn't specify a return receipt (that's an Apple addition), so if any app did it, it wouldn't guarantee that you'd actually get the receipt.

Handcent SMS, free from the Play Store, is a standalone messaging app that shows delivery to the recipients phone with a small egg timer for delivering and a tick for received against each text, if that helps. You can even download an iOS7 skin for it. Chomp and GOsms have similar features.

I love those read receipts on the stock messaging app!

Open the Message app and tap on Menu and go into Settings. Tick the box for Delivery reports. There's two more great options there for group messaging; "Delivery reports" (request a delivery report for each message you send) and "Read report" (request a read report for each message you send).

I get a tiny green checkmark next to my own message that I send letting me know that the other recipient received my message.
